WASHINGTON — This week, Rep. Lauren Underwood announced that her legislation to rename the Plainfield Post Office in honor of Staff Sergeant Jose Dueñez Jr. passed the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform with unanimous bipartisan support. The legislation is now awaiting consideration by the full House of Representatives.
WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Lauren Underwood (IL-14), a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security, delivered the following remarks at a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) hearing on the potential impacts of a DHS shutdown:

WASHINGTON – Today, Rep. Lauren Underwood released the following statement on the Department of Education’s proposed rule to limit federal student loan eligibility for advanced nursing programs by reclassifying them as graduate, rather than professional, degrees. The move will make schooling for nursing professionals more expensive and harder to access, raising health care costs system-wide.
