Underwood Secures $315,150 in Funding for Energy Projects
WASHINGTON — This week, Representative Lauren Underwood announced a new round of federal funding she has secured support local businesses in Illinois’ 14th District.
As a member of the Appropriations Committee, Underwood has made securing federal resources for northern Illinois a top priority. The following funds will support renewable energy in the 14th district with federal resources:
Grain Farm, Big Rock, Kane County, Illinois – $222,650
A local grain farm in Kane County will receive $222,650 from the USDA’s Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) to purchase and install a grain dryer. This project is anticipated to generate more than $11,000 per year in savings and will replace 138,955 kilowatt hours (kWh) (49 percent) per year.
Rep. Underwood secured the funding through the Inflation Reduction Act, the nation’s largest investment ever in combatting the climate crisis.
Performance Assets LLC, Sandwich, Kendall County, Illinois – $92,500
Performance Assets LLC, a local engineering firm, will receive $92,500 from the USDA’s Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) to purchase and install a 52 kilowatt solar array. This project will generate more than $8,000 per year in savings and will replace 64,997 kilowatt hours (kWh) per year.
Rep. Underwood secured the funding through the Inflation Reduction Act, the nation’s largest investment ever in combatting the climate crisis.
