Underwood Secures $9,683,408 in Funding Across Northern Illinois for Affordable Housing

WASHINGTON — This week, Representative Lauren Underwood announced a new round of federal funding she has secured to support affordable housing across the 14th District.

In addition to the funding below, Underwood has secured federal funding to significantly expand rental assistance for Illinois families through Housing Choice Vouchers, the most successful rental assistance program in history.

As a member of the Appropriations Committee, Underwood has made lowering housing costs for working families, and securing federal resources for northern Illinois, a top priority. The following funds will support programs in the 14th district with federal resources:

The Neighbor Project, Aurora, Illinois - $227,000

NeighborWorks America will receive $227,000 in federal grant funding to support their work developing and preserving affordable housing, revitalizing and sustaining neighborhoods, and creating jobs throughout our community.

Rep. Underwood helped secure the funding through the Fiscal Year 2023 federal government funding package.

Housing Authority of the City of Aurora, Aurora, Illinois - $2,064,809

The Housing Authority of the City of Aurora will receive $2,064,809 fromthe U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Capital Fund Program. This funding will be used to build, renovate, and modernize public housing in  to build, renovate, and modernize public housing in Aurora.

Bureau County Housing Authority, Princeton, Illinois - $745,480

The Bureau County Housing Authority will receive $745,480 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Capital Fund Program. This funding will be used to build, renovate, and modernize public housing in Bureau County.

Housing Authority for LaSalle County, Ottawa, Illinois - $2,990,249

The Housing Authority for LaSalle County will receive $2,990,249 from the HUD Capital Fund Program to build, renovate, and modernize public housing in LaSalle County.

Housing Authority of Joliet, Joliet, Illinois - $2,680,885

The Housing Authority of Joliet will receive $2,680,885 from the HUD Capital Fund Program to build, renovate, and modernize public housing in Joliet.

Housing Authority of the County of DeKalb, DeKalb, Illinois -$974,985

The Housing Authority of the County of DeKalb will receive $974,985 from the HUD Capital Fund Program to build, renovate, and modernize public housing in DeKalb County.
