During National Influenza Vaccination Week, Underwood Presses For Answers on the Impact of the Administration’s Policies that Increase Vaccine Misinformation and Increase Public Health Risks
WASHINGTON— Today in an Education and Labor Committee hearing, Congresswoman Lauren Underwood (IL-14) pressed immigration and health policy experts on the Administration's policies that reduce access to essential vaccinations, increasing public health risks for American families. During the hearing, Underwood focused on the public health effects of the Administration's immigration policies for residents of the 14th District. As the U.S. heads into a tough flu season, Underwood highlighted that policies that risk lowering vaccination rates are a public health risk for vulnerable populations in communities across the country.
"Vaccine hesitancy and misinformation are already at dangerous levels in America. Policies that further risk lowering vaccination rates place the health of children, seniors, pregnant women, and vulnerable populations at risk," said Underwood. "As a public health nurse, I'm deeply concerned about the health effects of this Administration's policies that increase the risk that children and their families will go without needed vaccines."
