Always call 911 in an emergency

Suicide Prevention Hotline:

  • 988 has been designated as the new three-digit dialing code that will route callers to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. This dialing code is currently available to everyone across the United States.
  • When people call, text, or chat 988, they will be connected to trained counselors that are part of the existing National Suicide Prevention Lifeline network. These trained counselors will listen, provide free and confidential support, and connect you to resources as necessary. 
  • The former Lifeline phone number (1-800-273-8255) will always remain available to people in emotional distress or suicidal crisis.

For Mothers:

  • Depression and anxiety can happen during pregnancy or after birth. Learn the signs and how to get help. If you are thinking about harming yourself or your family, or if you are concerned about someone, call the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline or get someone you trust to help you make the call.
  • The hotline provides 24/7, free, confidential hotline for pregnant and new moms in English and Spanish.

For Veterans:

  • Veterans and service members in crisis don't have to face it alone. If you're thinking about hurting yourself, having thoughts of suicide, or becoming self-destructive, there are responders ready to help. Contact the Veterans Crisis Line immediately for assistance. The Veterans Crisis Line provides 24/7 confidential crisis support.

For Youth:

Mobile Crisis Responseis for children under the age of 21 who are enrolled with a managed care plan and experiencing a mental health crisis. When determined appropriate, the CARES line will dispatch a contracted crisis responder to the child’s location. The crisis responder will complete a face-to-face crisis assessment to determine whether or not the child can be stabilized in the community.  

For Substance Abuse Help:

  • Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) National Helpline also known as, the Treatment Referral Routing Service, this Helpline provides 24-hour free and confidential treatment referral and information about mental and/or substance use disorders, prevention, and recovery in English and Spanish.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Developmenthas compiled a list of emergency rental assistance programs as well as eviction resources, housing counselors and utility assistance programs.

Kendall County Health Department: Can provide an assessment and help with acute symptoms of mental illness, alcohol and other drug abuse, emotional distress, and symptoms resulting from domestic violence, abuse, or neglect.

Will County Health Department Behavioral Health Services:  The Will County Health Department Provides Behavioral Health Services to Adults, Children and Adolescents.

WCHD Behavioral Health provides client-focused, community-based services in accordance with current clinical knowledge and accepted best-practices and standards of care. The Will County Health Department also has a Mobile Crisis Response that provides screening and assessment of children, adolescents, and adults prior to any admission to a hospital for inpatient psychiatric care.
