Pinning ceremony honored five veterans from the 14th District of Illinois

WEST CHICAGO—This weekend, Congresswoman Lauren Underwood (IL-14), member of the House Veterans' Affairs Committee, honored five local veterans from the 14th District of Illinois at a Vietnam Veteran pinning ceremony. The pinning ceremony is part of an ongoing national effort to honor all Vietnam War period veterans who served from November 1, 1955, to May 15, 1975, or their surviving family members. During the ceremony, Underwood recognized and shared the biography of each honored veteran and presented them with a lapel pin and a Certificate of Honor. Since being sworn into Office, Underwood has honored over 200 veterans from the 14th District having previously hosted two pinning ceremonies in McHenry and Oswego.

"I was deeply honored to have the opportunity to honor five outstanding Vietnam veterans from our community and offer them the long overdue gratitude of our nation for their service and sacrifice. It is my great hope that I will have the opportunity to meet and honor each Vietnam veteran in our community during future pinning ceremonies," said Underwood.
