Underwood Hosts Virtual Civics Class for Illinois Students and Teachers
WEST CHICAGO— Yesterday, Congresswoman Lauren Underwood (IL-14) hosted a virtual civics class to provide a resource to educators and students learning and teaching remotely during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. During the virtual event, Professor Richard Kiefer from Waubonsee Community College joined Underwood to discuss the roles of federal, state, and local governments in responding to a crisis like the coronavirus pandemic.
“The coronavirus pandemic has provided new challenges for educators and students who have worked hard to continue their work online,” said Underwood. “During this difficult time, I want to provide every possible resource to our teachers and students—including teaching lessons myself, when possible! We’re all in this together, and I’m proud to do my part.”
