Underwood Invites Illinois Families to Send Holiday Cards to Local Heroes
Opportunity for 14th District residents to thank essential workers and health care heroes on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic
WEST CHICAGO—Today, Congresswoman Lauren Underwood (IL-14) invited residents and families in the 14th District of Illinois to send holiday cards to local heroes in the form of digital notes, drawings, videos, and photos for essential workers keeping Illinois safe during the coronavirus pandemic.
Underwood is partnering with community organizations and various stakeholders throughout the district to distribute the digital thank you messages to essential workers including health care workers, first responders, grocery store and drug store employees, postal workers, transportation workers, janitorial staff, and more.
"One of the most effective ways to reduce the spread of the virus and keep our families, friends, and neighbors safe is to practice social distancing and stay at home. However, not everyone has that luxury; thousands of our neighbors are risking their lives to keep us safe and ensure essential services can continue. We are eternally grateful for them—it's truly heroic," said Underwood. "As we face this pandemic together, I invite our community to join me in thanking the local heroes who are stepping up to keep our families safe and healthy during this holiday season."
