Underwood Invites Middle and High School Students to Participate in 2022 Congressional App Challenge

June 17, 2022

WEST CHICAGO — Today, Congresswoman Lauren Underwood (IL-14) announced the beginning of the application period for the 2022 Congressional App Challenge (CAC). Launched in 2015, the CAC is a nationwide initiative that showcases the importance of computer science and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education. The CAC encourages students to use a programming language to create an application for mobile devices, tablets, and/or computers. The program is open to middle and high school students residing in or attending school in the 14th District, and students with any level of coding background may apply.

"The Congressional App Challenge drives students to create, innovate, and turn their dreams into reality. It is critical that we support students' passion for science, technology, engineering, and math and help pave the way for them to one day pursue a career in STEM,"said Underwood. "I cannot wait to see how students in my community rise to the challenge."

Interested students must register and submit their applications at CongressionalAppChallenge.us by November 1, 2022. Winners will be chosen by judges from the 14th District. The winning app will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol building, on the U.S. House of Representatives website, and on the Congressional App Challenge website.
