Underwood Joins Congressional Delegation to Munich Security Conference
MUNICH – Representative Lauren Underwood (IL-14) joined a Congressional Delegation to Munich, Germany this weekend to convene with counterparts in the German Bundestag and participate in the 2024 Munich Security Conference. Over three days of bilateral meetings, panels, and discussions, Underwood emphasized the importance of America’s continued support for our allies and our commitment to global security and peace.
“I was proud to be part of this delegation to deepen our relationships with other international leaders and reaffirm America’s dedication to our transatlantic partnerships. As Putin’s brutal war in Ukraine continues, there is no doubt that authoritarians around the world are taking notes. Our support for our allies and our commitment to global democracy cannot waver in this moment,” Underwood said. “The House must pass supplemental security funding to support Ukraine immediately – every day we fail to lead puts our global security at risk. This year’s Munich Security Conference was an important opportunity to reinforce that commitment and build on the bonds we need to maintain stability and peace.”
The Munich Security Conference brings together leaders from all over the globe to discuss diplomatic initiatives and the world’s most pressing security concerns. Rep. Underwood and the delegation participated in several working groups, roundtable discussions, and townhall meetings on transatlantic security and cooperation.
