Opportunity for 14th District residents to thank essential workers on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic

WEST CHICAGO— Congresswoman Lauren Underwood (IL-14) invites residents and families in the 14th District of Illinois to participate in “Thank Yous for Local Heroes,” an opportunity to send digital notes, drawings, and photos for doctors, nurses, first responders, law enforcement, grocery store and drug store employees, transportation workers and janitorial staff, and other essential workers working to keep Illinois safe during the coronavirus outbreak.

Underwood is partnering with community organizations and various stakeholders throughout the district to distribute the digital thank you notes to essential workers.

One of the most effective ways to flatten the curve and keep our neighbors safe is to practice social distancing and stay at home. However, thousands of our neighbors like health care professionals and grocery store associates are risking their health to ensure essential services can continue. We are eternally grateful for their selflessness—it's truly heroic,” said Underwood. “As we face this pandemic together, I invite our community to join me in sharing our gratitude to the local heroes who are stepping up to keep  our communities safe and healthy.”
