Underwood Leads Community in Sending Digital Holiday Greetings to over 120 Local Organizations serving on the Frontlines of Pandemic

December 22, 2020

14th District residents thanked essential workers and health care heroes on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic

WEST CHICAGO— Congresswoman Lauren Underwood (IL-14) sent holiday cards to local heroes in the form of digital notes, drawings, videos, and photos to essential workers keeping Illinois safe during the coronavirus pandemic. Underwood collected 136 holiday cards from residents across the 14th District of Illinois.

Underwood partnered with community stakeholders throughout the district to distribute the digital thank you messages to over 120 organizations working in and around the 14th Congressional district.

"One thing I love about this community is that our neighbors really show up for one another. It's been an exhausting year, and on top of transitioning to remote learning and work while doing all we can to keep our families healthy, that people would take time to answer the call for holiday cards for our local heroes makes me so proud," said Underwood. "These heroes deserve all of our thanks for the sacrifices they have made this year, and I'm so glad we could put a smile on a few faces with this small act of gratitude."

"Now, this is pretty amazing! Thanks so much for sharing this with us, and thank you for taking the time to gather messages and cards from the great people of the 14th District of Illinois. I am honored to share this with our team here at the Lindenhurst Police Department. Please share our gratitude with Congresswoman Underwood," said Chief Thomas Jones of Lindenhurst Police Department.

Photos of holiday cards can be found here.
