Underwood Secures Biodiesel Tax Credit for Illinois Farmers and Small Businessowners

January 7, 2020

WASHINGTON— Today, Congresswoman Lauren Underwood (IL-14) announced that her efforts to extend the biodiesel tax credit to support Illinois's rural economy were successful. The Underwood-backed legislation to extend the biodiesel tax credit through 2022 and retroactively apply the credit for 2018 passed as a part of the appropriations package for Fiscal Year 2020 and was signed into law by the President on December 20, 2019.

"I'm pleased to see this investment that will support our local biodiesel producers and rural economy. I'll continue to fight for our hardworking farmers and rural communities to ensure they are equipped with the resources they need to be successful," said Underwood.

In Congress, Underwood has worked to support farmers and the rural economy of the 14th District. Underwood is a cosponsor of the Biodiesel Tax Credit Extension Act (H.R. 2089) to extend the biodiesel tax credit through 2019.
