Underwood Statement on New 2020 Tax Filing Season Extension
WASHINGTON— Today, Representative Lauren Underwood (IL-14) released the following statement after the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced that Tax Day will be moved to July 15 from April 15 due to the coronavirus outbreak.
“As American families face uncertainty amid the coronavirus crisis, this is welcomed relief for Illinois taxpayers who will now have until July 15, 2020, to file their to file their income tax returns,” said Rep. Underwood. “I will continue to monitor guidance from the IRS and work with state and local officials to ensure members of our community have the resources they need during this global pandemic and public health crisis.”
