WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Lauren Underwood (IL-14) and Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) with Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) and Rep. Brad Schneider (IL-10) sent a letter to new Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers urging him to re-evaluate the environmental impact of proposed Foxconn construction and his state’s decision to waive important environmental review of the development, which could have significant downstream effects on Lake County communities already vulnerable to flooding along the Des Plaines River.

Congresswoman Lauren Underwood (IL-14) expressed concern that a proposed rule by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) would increase premiums for consumers who purchase health insurance though the exchange created by the Affordable Care Act. In a letter to HHS Secretary Alex Azar, Underwood also warned that the rule would also increase out-of-pocket costs for consumers with private insurance—including some employer-sponsored healthcare plans.
