WASHINGTON—Today, Representative Lauren Underwood (IL-14) continued her work to improve mental health and suicide prevention services for veterans by urging the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to prioritize mental health and suicide prevention services for veterans during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. On March 22, the VA reported that calls to the Veterans Crisis Line (VCL) have increased by 12%, and 20% of all calls are related to coronavirus.

During the forum, Underwood addressed the heightened challenges that individuals with disabilities face with in-person voting during the November election. Additionally, Underwood advocated for caregivers who care for older Americans and individuals with disabilities.

WASHINGTON— Congresswoman Lauren Underwood's (IL-14) legislation to reduce COVID-19-related health care costs for veterans passed the House of Representatives. The bipartisan legislation would ensure that veterans who receive health care from the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) are not liable for out-of-pocket costs for preventive services related to the novel coronavirus, including an eventual vaccine.

The Senior Spotlight is an opportunity for members of the 14th District to celebrate the hard work and dedication of northern Illinois graduating seniors.

GENEVA – Jamie Schumacher is safely back in Geneva these days, after nearly being stranded indefinitely in Haiti after that country being closed down March 19 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

She and her friend Susan Arch credited U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood, D-Naperville, for working with the State Department and Haitian officials to get her on a plane home by March 23.

WASHINGTON— Today, Representatives Lauren Underwood (IL-14), Jason Crow (CO-06), and Jimmy Panetta (CA-20) introduced new legislation to establish the "Health Force." The Health Force and Resilience Force Act would recruit, train, and employ Americans to expand our public health workforce to respond to the coronavirus pandemic and strengthen America's long-term public health infrastructure. In addition to helping solve our public health worker shortage, the bill would help provide jobs for thousands of recently unemployed Americans and support the country's recovery efforts.
