WASHINGTON – Today, the Democratic members of the Illinois Congressional Delegation sent a letter to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Alex Azar expressing strong concerns regarding the racial disparities that exist in COVID-19 cases and deaths in Illinois and across the nation. The members cited that while black residents make up nearly 15 percent of the state's total population, they account for 43 percent of all COVID-19 deaths.

WASHINGTON – Today, Representative Lauren Underwood (IL-14) announced that colleges and universities serving Illinois' 14th District will receive over $45 million in emergency funding from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which Underwood strongly supported in Congress and was signed by the President on March 27. The CARES Act provides $14 billion in emergency higher education relief to help students and institutions during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

WASHINGTON— Congresswoman Lauren Underwood (IL-14) joined Congressman Ben Ray Luján (NM-03), in a bipartisan letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi pushing for additional direct funding to small localities and cities in future coronavirus relief packages. Currently under the CARES Act, localities with populations under 500,000 are not eligible to receive direct resources from the Coronavirus Relief Fund. The funding Underwood is advocating for would help several communities across northern Illinois including, DeKalb County, McHenry County, Plainfield, Crystal Lake, and St. Charles.

U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood (D-Naperville) announced Monday that colleges and universities in Illinois' 14th District will receive over $45 million in emergency funding from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, according to a news release.

The CARES Act, which Underwood supported in Congress, was signed by President Trump on March 27. It provides $14 billion in emergency higher education relief to help students and institutions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

WASHINGTON— Today, in a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Representatives Lauren Underwood (IL-14) and Angie Craig (MN-02), and a group of 16 freshman Democratic members advocated for the inclusion of their legislative solutions to make health care more affordable in the next Congressional coronavirus relief package. In the letter, Members commended Speaker Pelosi for including provisions to lower the cost of insurance premiums in the Take Responsibility for Workers and Families Act and urged the Speaker to include those policies in upcoming legislation.
