WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Lauren Underwood (IL-14) voted to pass the Right to Contraception Act, legislation which she helped introduce. The Right to Contraception Act protects the right to obtain and use contraception. By overturning Roe, the ultra-conservative Supreme Court paved the way for legal challenges to the right to contraception, guaranteed by the Fourteenth Amendment’s right to privacy.

WASHINGTON – On Friday, Congresswoman Lauren Underwood (IL-14) voted to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act and the Ensuring Women’s Right to Reproductive Freedom Act to protect reproductive freedoms nationwide. In the wake of the Supreme Court’s ruling to overturn Roe, this legislation will protect the right to an abortion, and stop plans by Republican lawmakers to implement a nationwide ban to criminalize abortion in all 50 states. They’ve even threatened to criminalize birth control, in-vitro fertilization, and miscarriage care.

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Lauren Underwood (IL-14) voted to pass a bipartisan legislative package strengthening access to care for Americans grappling with mental illness and substance use disorders. The package included legislation Underwood co-led, the Continuing Systems of Care for Children Act, which would fund community-based mental health care programs and expand initiatives to provide support to young people at risk for substance use disorders.

WEST CHICAGO — Today, Congresswoman Lauren Underwood (IL-14) announced the beginning of the application period for the 2022 Congressional App Challenge (CAC). Launched in 2015, the CAC is a nationwide initiative that showcases the importance of computer science and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education. The CAC encourages students to use a programming language to create an application for mobile devices, tablets, and/or computers.
